Fuse Identification

What type of information do you need to correctly identify a fuse?
Generally the manufacturers name and part number will be enough information to identify a fuse. Sometimes further information is required. To help us correctly identify your fuse, please provide as much data as you can from the following list;
  • The fuse manufacturer.
  • The fuse part number.
  • The body style of the fuse.
  • The material of the fuse body eg. glass, ceramic, fibreglass etc.
  • The accurate dimensions of the fuse (as many fuses share similar dimensions).
  • The current rating of the fuse expressed in either Amps (A) or Milliamps (mA)
  • The voltage rating of the fuse expressed in either Volts (V) or Kilovolts (kV)
  • The type of voltage passing through the fuse eg. AC or DC
  • The speed of the element inside the fuse. View our Fuse Markings page for information.
  • Does the fuse feature an indicator or microswitch trigger?
  • What standards or approvals must the fuse meet.
  • If the fuse is a thermal fuse, what are the operating, holding and melting temperatures?

Where do I find this information?
  • Original packaging of the fuse.
  • Labelling on the fuse body.
  • Engravings on the metal caps / tags of the fuse.
  • Product manual or specification sheet of the equipment using the fuse.
  • Information provided on access panel or printed circuit board where the fuse is located.
  • Call the equipment manufacturer or service agent for information.
